Making a Difference

Childhood hunger is a reality in Harford County, Maryland. Weekend meal programs help fill the hunger gap that many school children experience when they are not in school.

Through our Beyond Blessings program, The HOPE Center of Maryland provides students in local high-poverty public schools with bags of kid-friendly, nutritious food to sustain them on weekends when free school meals are not available.

Currently, Beyond Blessings is designed for students in elementary grades K-5. The bags are delivered to the schools where social workers distribute them to the students with the highest need.

Last school year, The HOPE Center of Maryland helped Webster Church with providing over 20,000 meals for 75 children attending Havre de Grace Elementary School.

For the 2023/2024 school year, The HOPE Center of Maryland with provide Bakerfield E.S. in Aberdeen and Deerfield E.S. in Edgewood with 50 weekend meal bags for each school. In addition, we will continue to support Webster Church with Havre de Grace E.S.

We are looking to the community for food collection drives and monetary contributions.

Your help is needed to sustain and expand this vital program!
